The Uncle Big's Story
The year is 1989. A small Cessna commuter plane is shot down over central Africa carrying photojournalists from Canada covering the country's political unrest. There was one survivor..... Uncle Big.
Uncle Big finds himself injured and alone in a very dangerous area of the country, with no food and little water. Uncle Big manages to fight his way through dense jungle infested with poisonous snakes and hungry predators. After three days of searching for civilization Uncle Big comes upon a group of guerilla soldiers guarding a small patch of land near Goma. He wonders what has such value that these soldiers need to be so heavily armed. Gold? Diamonds? He had to know what secret they were hiding.
He waits until night fall and creeps his way through the barricades past the soldiers. He finds himself surrounded by thousands of indigenous pepper plants, no gold no diamonds, just peppers.
Disappointed, but realizing it may be the only food he may come across for miles, he picks hundreds of the little peppers into his backpack and carries on under cover of the night.
After finding his way to a small village, he is cared for by the tribe's people and nursed back to health.
During his time with local tribesmen, they informed him that the peppers he had stolen are the property of the Hatari Brothers, fierce landowners of which local myths abound. The peppers are known by the same name, Hatari, which is Swahili for "Danger." They are reported to be one of the hottest peppers in the world and are used as currency by the locals because of their rarity and value on the open market.
Uncle Big, being somewhat of a connoisseur of spice, decides to see what the big deal is. From the first fiery bite, knew he had something special. He put them in everything, chili, marinades, salsa, the list goes on. The Hatari peppers made everything "angry hot." The day soon came where he was down to his last handful peppers, a dire situation to say the least.
He set out to find a way to get his hands on more of these intoxicating hot peppers. After much research and several failed attempts to grow the peppers in Canadian soil, he realized that the stories were true, the Hatari peppers are rare, and hotter than anything available to him here in Canada. Time passes, and one day after almost having given up all hope, he happens upon a story about these mysterious peppers which lead him to a direct descendent of the Hatari family and the only source of these mystical peppers.
The rest as they say is history. Together the Hatari Brothers and Uncle Big have forged an unholy alliance to bring you the truly hottest sauce with the most flavor you will ever taste - Uncle Big's Killer Hot Sauce! You can use it as an additive, or if you think you have the taste buds for it, try it all on its own.
Uncle Big claims his sauce is over 500,000 Scoville units, not for the faint of heart, but a must have if you are a true chili head. The proof is only one turn of the cap away. Have you got what it takes? Or as Uncle Big always says: Taste my pain!
